Destiny's Child formed in Houston in the early 1990s, starting out as a young group called Girl's Tyme that rehearsed in the Knowles family's living room and competed on Star Search. After years of grinding through Houston talent showcases, the group signed with Columbia Records and broke through in the late 1990s.
The best-known lineup of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams delivered hits including "Say My Name," "Bills, Bills, Bills," and "Survivor," and became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time before disbanding in 2006. All three members went on to major solo careers, and the group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the same year they said goodbye.
