The 'A Christmas Story' House RoadyGoat

1983

At 3159 West 11th Street in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood stands the Victorian house used as Ralphie Parker's home in the 1983 holiday classic 'A Christmas Story.' Only the exterior and a few interior shots were filmed here; most interiors were shot on a Toronto soundstage. A fan bought the run-down house in 2004, restored it to match the movie, and opened it as a museum, complete with the infamous leg lamp glowing in the front window. Across the street, a companion museum holds original props and costumes. The film, set in 1940s Indiana and narrated by Jean Shepherd from his own stories, flopped quietly in theaters before cable marathons turned it into a Christmas institution. Today fans line up year-round to say 'fra-gee-lay' on the porch.
